Flood Risk Hazard

As shown in the Sea Level Rise: Flood Risk Hazard Map, the
majority of the project area is at risk of flood
inundation as a result of sea level rise.
With the state unable to balance its budget and city of
Fremont dealing with budget cuts, taxpayers will be
responsible for building and maintaining expensive flood
control channels and levees and any liabilities for any
failures of such measures.
Doesn't the city council
have a moral and fiscal responsibility to not
allow the building of a massive development that will
cost taxpayers money supporting a development doomed to
fail? Isn't taxpayer money better spent on our schools,
streets, and police and fire services? After all,
Fremont has plenty of safer places elsewhere to build
and which are closer to transit. |
